5 Tips to Improve Your Halloween Photography

Ghosts and goblins, black cats and witches brew and characters of all kinds—this is Halloween and it will be here again before you know it, so get yourself prepared to snatch all of the creatures that flood from the darkness.

No matter if you are at a party, a parade, or attempt Halloween street photography in your hometown, the following five tips will help you shoot in a way that captures the mood of the haunted night. Also check : Halloween Wallpapers 2016

1. Leave Your flash at Home–Shoot with High ISO.

Unless you really know what you are doing, I recommend that you not bother using your camera’s flash feature.  This might come as a surprise to you since most of your Halloween shots will take place in low light situations, but if you consider how brutal flash lighting can be if used incorrectly, you can probably see in your mind’s eye photographs that have lost that spooky Halloween mood.  There are experts who know how to use their flash features correctly, but I have yet to see many successful examples.  This is why I recommend you choose another path: if not much light is available, try to increase the ISO of your camera as much as you can.

When it comes to ISO, you need to know your camera and at which setting it starts to produce image noise to an extent that is unbearable.  Once you figure this out, simply stay below this number.  Generally, compact cameras with very high resolution tend to show a stronger increase in image noise with increasing ISO numbers.  Besides many other aspects of the camera, larger camera systems, such as SLRs, do a much better job in the ISO department.  Keep in mind that each camera has different characteristics.

Do a few experiments with night shots prior to Halloween and then study the EXIF (Exchangeable Image File) data of those pictures.  You will quickly figure out which ISO will be most useful so you will not miss capturing every detail.

2. Use a Fast Lens

A fast lens is a lens with a large aperture.  These lenses are built to allow a large amount of light into your camera’s sensor.  How much light your lens is letting in at a time will be a crucial factor when you are out there during Halloween night.  The more light, the shorter you can set the exposure time.  The best practice is to set your camera to aperture priority mode.  This mode allows you to choose the aperture so that you can set it to the largest possible (the smallest f-number).  In this mode, the camera automatically chooses the right exposure time for you, which is very convenient.

If you have a little bit of experience, you also know that a large aperture can help you to isolate your subject from the background.  This is an important cornerstone for appealing portraits regardless if you shoot at day or night.  To give you some numbers, I have successfully been using prime lenses on the streets at night.  These lenses had focal lengths between 30mm and 85mm, and maximum apertures between f/1.4 and f/1.8.

3. Shoot RAW

Using the camera’s RAW format over the processed and compressed JPEG format is a particularly good choice when you want to post-process your images.  The reason is simply that there is more information in each pixel of a RAW image.  In many cases, you may not physically see a comparable difference, but your computer sees much more in these pixels than your eyes.  When you process your image, the computer has more material to work with, therefore giving you more freedom when pushing the sliders on your image editing software.  The kind of processing I mostly do on nightly Halloween pictures is the use of noise reduction filters and exposure compensation to brighten up the scenes.

4. Move Around

Because you will not be using your camera’s flash feature, you are very dependent on the light that is available.  By changing your position and experimenting with various angles, you will eventually find useable light that will be good for the type of images you want to create.  Once you find a good position, stay there and keep shooting for a while.  Take advantage of it, but at some point, move on to a new location.  By changing your position your images will show a variety of backgrounds, which not only keeps you entertained during the shooting process, but also will later hold the attention of those viewing your images.

5. Dress Up and Become Part of the Crowd

Be part of the festivities.  Your subjects will play their character roles with more authenticity when you become part of the crowd rather than being perceived as an observer.  If you are able to interact naturally with your subjects, they will also appear natural in your photographs.  Dress up, be funny, and have fun!

The Flash Season 3 Premiere: Flashpoint Synopsis Released

After months of speculation and lots of chatter about the implications of the show’s title character mucking with the timestream, The CW has finally released the synopsis for “Flashpoint,” the season three premiere of The Flash. Also check : The Flash Season 3 Online

In the comics, Flashpoint was the name of a crossover “event” miniseries in which Barry Allen’s attempt to save his mother’s life resulted in a mangled timestream where the world teetered on the brink of armageddon. “Ripples in the pool” of time even reverberated backwards to impact events like Superman’s landing on Earth (he was found by the government and hidden from the sun in a cell) and the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne (instead, they survived the loss of their son).

In the TV series, the changes will be more localized to Barry — but that doesn’t mean they aren’t significant.

“Barry doesn’t have any regrets at this point. Barry’s been in this timeline for a few months when we start ‘Flashpoint,'” series star Grant Gustin told ComicBook.com at Comic Con International: San Diego in July. “He’s still living in a complete state of bliss with both of his parents alive. There’s a Kid Flash running around as The Flash, so Barry doesn’t have to be The Flash and he’s okay with that. He still has his powers, but he’s starting to forget the other timeline. He’s got new memories that are emerging, like graduating high school or college or moments with his parents, and they’re replacing old memories. And I think it’s when he starts to realize that’s happening, that’s when he starts to realize how selfish this kind of was, how messed up it was. It’s affecting not only him and his family’s life, but everybody connected to him and — who knows? — countless people across the globe potentially. So the incredibly indecisive Barry Allen is going to try to fix things again once he realizes how much this has affected everyone’s life.”

You can check the episode synopsis out below.

WHAT WOULD YOU SACRIFICE TO HAVE EVERYTHING YOU’VE EVER WANTED? — Barry (Grant Gustin) is living his dream life – his parents are alive, he’s asked Iris West (Candice Patton) on a date and he can finally be a normal guy as Central City has another speedster, Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), running around saving the city. When Barry starts forgetting parts of his old life, the Reverse Flash (guest star Matt Letscher) taunts his nemesis and tells him that there will be serious repercussions for Barry and the ones he loves if he continues to live in this alternate universe. In addition to losing his memories, his powers will also start to fade. When disaster strikes, Barry must decide if he wants to continue to live in this world as Barry Allen or return to his universe as The Flash.

The Flash season three premiere, “Flashpoint,” will air on October 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Jesse Warn directed the episode, with story by Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, and a teleplay by Brooke Roberts.

The Walking Dead: Michael Cudlitz Hints at Abraham’s Season 7 Fate

The Walking Dead season 6 had more than its fair share of surprises for the audience. In addition to teasing the death of Glenn Rhee early in the season, only to walk it back (under a dumpster), the season also ended on a contentious cliffhanger in which incoming villain/series game changer Negan murders a key character from their perspective, leaving the identity a secret until the season 7 premiere (presumably). But that wasn’t all the series managed to deliver in terms of surprises. Perhaps one death in the series that went overlooked in all the chatter about Glenn and the season finale is the unexpected, unearned demise of Dr. Denise Cloyd (Merritt Wever), whose final moment bared a striking resemblance to the death of a major character from the comics. For those who read the comics, the moment might have been especially surprising as Denise’s death by crossbow bolt through the eye was originally delivered to the red-haired military man Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz). That deviation from the comics wasn’t the first that the television series has made in its six seasons, but it was one of the more conspicuous given the graphic nature of what occurred and the implications that immediately arose as a result. With Negan’s impending arrival common knowledge amongst viewers at the time, Abraham’s survival meant more than him simply switching places with another character; it opened up a whole new avenue of storytelling possibilities, as it afforded Sgt. Ford a chance to meet and interact with the bat-swinging Negan.

It remains to be seen whether or not that proves to be a good thing from Abraham’s perspective, as he may yet be revealed to be Negan’s victim, but the actor is aware the potential upside in deviating so dramatically from the source material. While talking with PopSugar, Cudlitz discussed his character’s survival and how the departure from the comics actually served to make series creator Robert Kirkman happy.

Cudlitz said:

“Well, [Robert] Kirkman was never happy with the death Abraham had in the graphic novels. He always said it was sort of a last-minute decision and that he regretted how he took him out. I think transferring that specific death of the crossbow arrow through the eye to Denise was sort of an Easter egg for the audience who follow the graphic novels. They know what that death should have been, but there’s also nothing lost on the television audience by not knowing that. It was a little gift just for them. Her death spurs on a whole bunch of other stuff, and then the audience knows that Abraham will continue for a while now. Now we get to see what a world with Negan and Abraham both in it will be like. That’s something we don’t see in the graphic novels. So a lot of cool stuff happens. For me, knowing that his potential death had come and gone, it was a moment to go, “Oh cool, they really aren’t going to stick with what the graphic novel does.” As a fan of both the novel and the show, it was cool.”

Obviously, the big takeaway is Cudlitz mentioning Abraham “will continue for a while now,” which, despite its spoiler-y nature, will likely please many fans and also set up a potential conflict (or not) between two willful, violent characters. Beyond the TV series allowing key moments from the comics to be altered to make what the creator sees as a correction, Cudlitz makes an interesting point about the change having a ripple effect that creates an entirely new dynamic from which potentially interesting character developments may arise.

What will a confrontation between the leader of the Saviors and Abraham look like? Well, fans only have less than two months to wait in order to find out.–

‘Quantico’ season 2 spoilers latest news: Alex and Ryan to make their relationship official

Alex Parrish’s (Priyanka Chopra) life will completely change when she moves to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the upcoming second season of ABC’s thriller drama “Quantico.” Also check : Quantico Season 2 Episode 3

The story picks up with Alex working at the CIA’s private training facility known as The Farm. After spending some time there, she will discover another world of espionage as she is pulled into a bigger national crisis.

According to Zap2it, Alex may meet new people after she transfers to the CIA but she will still communicate with her friends back in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Since the two government agencies are known to always have conflicts in the series, Alex’s relationship with her FBI buddies will certainly be tested.

In terms of Alex’s romantic relationship, the female spy’s romance with Ryan Booth (Jake McLaughlin) is far from over. Chopra revealed a new promotional poster via Instagram last week featuring Alex and Ryan — meaning he will remain in her life come season 2. After a tumultuous year for the “Ralex” couple, the two will finally make their relationship official once the show returns.

“The first time you see her, you see them together. Alex and Ryan are dating,” showrunner Josh Safran told Entertainment Weekly. Unfortunately, their romantic moment won’t last long since an unexpected thing happens. “Something goes terribly wrong between Alex and Ryan within the first 45 seconds of the premiere,” he shared.

Will the terrible event be related to Alex’s new work in the CIA? As fans know, the timeline in “Quantico” constantly switches between the past and the future which makes it difficult for viewers to guess what happens next. On another note, a lot of newcomers will also make their way into the series including Russell Tovey, Pearl Thusi, Blair Underwood, Tracy Ifeachor and Aarón Díaz.

Tune in to the season 2 premiere of “Quantico” on Sept. 25, Sunday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.

How Pokemon Go took over the web?

In the week that political resignations, leadership battles and market turmoil dominated news headlines, a certain monster-hunting mobile game was busy making waves online. Also check : Pokemon Go Get Stardust

Pokemon Go’s mixture of gaming and reality has proved a huge success.

While Twitter remains a firm favourite for political chatter, app analytics firm SimilarWeb says Pokemon Go now has more daily users on Android phones in the US than the social media firm.

SimilarWeb says players are using Pokemon Go for an average of 43 minutes a day – that’s more than Whatsapp, Instagram or Snapchat.

Since the game makes players walk around to hunt Pokemon, it means an average man playing the game for seven days would burn 1,795 calories – and a woman would burn 1,503. Converted into a tastier measure, that could be seven small chocolate doughnuts for a man – or six for a woman

There were 15.3 million tweets worldwide about Pokemon Go in its first week. That’s more than the 11.7 million for Brexit in the week of the UK referendum – and double the 7.5 million tweets about the Euro 2016 football championships in its first seven days.

Online searches for the game have spiked too – there have been almost as many Google searches worldwide for Pokemon Go as there were for Brexit on the day the UK voted to leave the European Union.

Even pornography, an enduring internet fascination, has been overtaken by interest in the app.

Now something for the players.

While the main method of catching Pokemon is simply to find them, to get the rarer ones you could try hatching some eggs.

Players can collect eggs at Pokestops – real world landmarks that appear in the game – but you have to walk a certain distance for them to hatch. The rarest Pokemon hatch from eggs after a 10km (6 mile) walk – then 5km and 2km for the more common creatures.

With the game now having been released in the UK and expected to be released in many more countries soon, it is a fair guess that Pokemon Go’s popularity will continue.

Game of Thrones Season 6: Episode 6 teaser trailer tears and binds “Blood of my Blood”

The new teaser trailer for Game of Thrones Episode 6 forges and tears family lines as “Blood of my Blood” is bound by different rules in Season 6.

A new Game of Thrones trailer sheds light on Episode 6 after synopses teasing High Sparrow’s fall and the Hound’s return were released last week. And Sunday’s episode, “Blood of my Blood,” seems to pick up in medias res after Bran opened “The Door” on the Stark family legacy in Episode 5. Now Bran and Meera are seen clambouring through the woods, the Stark son still locked in a vision with only Meera to guide them from the White Walkers through the wild forests of the north. The trailer then takes us back to King’s Landing, not seen since Episode 4, as the Lannisters’ showdown with the Faith Militant continues and Cersei contemplates tearing the High Sparrow apart as “he’s torn our family apart,” to use Jamie Lannister’s words. Also check :game of thrones season 6 episode 6

It’s clear the High Sparrow’s preparing another episode for Margaery like the walk of atonement Cersei sustained last season. Only we know from Episode 4 that both the Lannisters and the Tyrells agree this mustn’t be allowed to happen. What’s more likely is that they’ll beat the High Sparrow at his own game, forcing his hand in a moment of rapacious religiousity to weaken his military influence in King’s Landing. “We should treat them without mercy, and we will,” Cersei intones. “Show them what we do to our enemies.” As these family bonds are being sown, far different ties are reforged across the sea as well, as Sam conducts Gilly, his wildling companion, to his ancestral hearth at Horn Hill, where we catch a glimpse of his imposing father Randyll Tarly for the first time. Just over the horizon in Essos, Daenerys and Daario are also seen contemplating Daenerys’ return to her ancestral home, with the Dragon queen proclaiming, “I take what is mine.” Are you ready for Episode 6?
